Q. What are KOOL OFF Products and Arctic Bandanas? How do they work?
A. Our KOOL OFF Products and Arctic Bandanas are made from 100% cotton & poly/cotton fabric. The products all have an area sewn into a tube/pocket. In these tubes/pockets we put water absorbing polymer crystals. We use a special blend of these crystals which we call Sparkling Earth. The crystals absorb 350 to 400 times their weight in water.

After absorbing water, the crystals time-release the water over a period of days. It is this release of water that keeps our products cooler than the surrounding air. For extra cooling, the products can be refrigerated. The release period is one to several days depending upon the air temperature, humidity and type of use. After releasing all their water, the crystals return to the hard crystal form. Our Sparkling Earth crystals can be taken from dry to wet and then back to dry hundreds and hundreds of times. They will work for years. Sparkling Earth is non-toxic, non-flammable and non-hazardous.

Q. How long should they be soaked in water?
A. Our products generally need to be soaked for only about 20 minutes although this can vary slightly depending on the water temperature & impurity content of the water. If you soak the product for considerably longer than 20 minutes, the crystals may grow too large and may begin to squeeze out through the fabric. If this occurs, just rinse off and it's ready to wear.

Q. Are there products available that can absorb water faster and can be worn sooner?
A. Yes, however most of these 1 to 2 minute products use a polymer designed for baby diapers and can only be reused a few times. Ours can be used thousands of times.

Q. Are the crystals safe?
A. Yes, ours are non-toxic, non-flammable, non-hazardous and biodegradable. So, they are safe for human use and will not damage the environment.
